PARKS

Our neighbourhood has parks with playgrounds, a pool, an ice rink, a basketball court and a short ravine. Nearby are a few very large parks and in the winter, golf courses that transform to public space.

Ledbury Park

This 1.6 hectare park is the main park in our neighbourhood. It can be accessed from Falkirk and St. Germain on the west or Ledbury on the east. It features an outdoor skating rink for winter fun and a beautiful pool for summer recreation. A large building has a changing area and washrooms. A ramp situated beside the stairs, makes it accessible for bikes, strollers and wheelchairs to get from one side of the park to the other. There is a parking lot on the Ledbury side. No children’s playground at this park, but there is plenty of open space to play Frisbee, kick around a ball or do a little yoga.

Brookdale Park

This 1.5 hectare park winds northwest through the neighbourhood from Avenue Road and Woburn to Grey Road and Fairlawn. A mature tree canopy covers the trail through the park and a children's playground can be found near the south end. Its paved paths are ideal for strollers and accessible by wheelchairs and they are maintained in the winter.

Woburn Park

Accessible from Barse and Cranbrooke, or a short block east from Bathurst, this park has a paved walkway that runs through Woburn, Bedford Park, Douglas and right through to Glengarry. The park has a children’s play area, a basketball court and a fenced-in off-leash dog area. It’s beautifully treed and has plenty of open space to play or sit on a bench to relax and read.

Old Orchard Park

This small park (pictured at top) is approximately a block west of Avenue Rd. to Grey and runs between Old Orchard and Deloraine. It has a paved walkway with a little bridge. The children’s playground is the main attraction with benches, metal picnic tables and a huge canopy of trees.

NEARBY

There are nearby green spaces, just a short drive away, offering many more options. Enjoy endless trails for biking, running, walking, sports fields, picnic areas, open spaces, and for your furry family member, these parks offer endless fun for your dog to enjoy safely and legally. All are a 5-15 minute drive from the Ledbury Park neighbourhood.

Sunnybrook Park

This massive green space within our city can be accessed from many entrances and joins up with many other city parks. There are buildings with washrooms, hills for tobogganing, horse stables, nature trails, 25 biking trails, which can lead you all the way to downtown Toronto, cricket fields, multi-purpose sports fields, picnic areas, a pond and tons of parking.

There is also a vast fenced-in dog area. There is even a separate fenced-in area for small dogs less than 20lbs. To access the nearest parking lot to the dog parks, drive behind Sunnybrook Hospital right through to the long winding downhill road which takes you into the parking lot beside the dog parks.

Earl Bales Park

Another extensive green space within our city can be accessed from Bathurst just north of York Downs. It also has entrance points from Sheppard or the Westgate ravine. Earl Bales Park has an outdoor theatre, 9 bike trails, 2 fire pits, 5 parking lots, 4 picnic sites, 3 playgrounds, a ski hill with chairlift and a splash pad. All this plus a huge fenced in dog area. There is also a community centre, a senior’s centre and a Holocaust monument all within the park’s borders. It’s easily accessed by car or TTC.

Sherwood Park

This picturesque wooded park connects with Sunnybrook Park and can be accessed from Yonge St. just south of Lawrence. It has 2 wading pools, great walking/running trails, public bathrooms, picnic tables, a large playground, ball diamond and a great fenced-in dog area. The wading pools are located downhill from the park entrance and are spacious with several water spray features for all to enjoy. Free parking is available at the front of the park, near the main entrance on Sherwood Street east of Mount Pleasant Ave.

Golf CourseS in Winter

During the winter months, Don Valley Golf Course off Yonge near Wilson and steps from the York Mills Subway station, offers beautiful trails for snow shoeing and cross country skiing. Rosedale Golf Club at the top of Mt. Pleasant Rd. also offers winter access to the public and dogs are welcome but availability depends on snow conditions so check https://rosedalegolf.org/Mobile/Member_Central before you go.

A walk in the park can change your mood
Your spirit and health will be renewed
Children playing, paved walkways and benches to rest
It’s exactly what you need if you’re feeling stressed
Take the dog too; it will do them some good
Lots to choose from in our wonderful neighbourhood.
